Don’t Reinvent the Wheel

I am an avid believer that front end developers should always keep up-to-date with the latest technologies and be aware of what tools are out there. When I first started coding, jQuery did not exist (can you believe its been around for 10 years now?) and vanilla JavaScript was all we had. The amount of time and code that jQuery can save has made it easily one of my favorite advances in front end dev tools.

HTML frameworks such as Bootstrap and Foundation (does anyone still use Foundation???), the CSS pre-processors SASS and Less, and the MVVM frameworks (Angular.js, Ember.js, etc.) are just a few of the tools that have made rapid prototyping and development possible. I’m all about reinventing the wheel in life, but in development having tools like this allows us to have more time to spend on thinking about how we can vastly improve an application and not be bogged down by writing mundane code to make a collapsable container.
